Welcome to Hidden Dorset

Accessibility

We worked to make the Hidden Dorset website as accessible as possible for all audiences, including those with visual impairments or other disabilities. It is our goal to create a model of usable and accessible design for a large e-commerce site, something which many e-commerce sites usually neglect. The site conforms to the latest web standards and validation, details of which can be found below.

Links

1. Many links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article).
2. Links are written to make sense out of context.

Images

1. All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
2. All images are optimised for fast download times and modem browsing.

Visual design

1. This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
2. This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
3. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.

Criteria

Details of the criteria used to define a ‘Hidden Dorset Gem’ can be supplied on request. In the event of a dispute, there is an appeal process, where details of a nomination are submitted to the Hidden Dorset Advisory Board; the majority decision of the Board is final. If you have an enquiry about the process please contact the Hidden Dorset team.
