The Electric Palace takes you back to how going to the pictures used to feel. Have supper in the wonderful brasserie, or take the kids to a Saturday Movie, or go back in time with a Silver Screen performance.
The newly restored Electric Palace now has one of the most beautiful cinema interiors in the country. It is certainly one of the most unusual and exciting. Cinema in Bridport is now alive and well!
The brasserie restaurant situated in what was the entrance foyer is a delightful place to meet for lunch or dinner. The walls are covered with the subtle colours of the 1926 murals of George Biles and the whole restaurant is elegant and charming. The food is superb and the service excellent. The chef/proprietor Gideon worked for some years with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall at River Cottage and his delicious food uses only the best and freshest ingredients.
Inside the cinema auditorium the walls are alive with exuberant murals themed upon the spirit of entertainment, reflecting the Electric Palace's commitment to eating, drinking and making merry. The auditorium bar encourages you to have a glass of wine or a beer during the show or to linger with friends after a film and socialize.
The cinema shows a wide choice of films programmed by the I.C.O. ranging from blockbusters and children's films to obscure art house and classic movies. We are also a venue for other entertainments and on stage we will have music, theatre and cabaret. The predictable is rarely to be seen here as we strive for an interesting and thought provoking programme of events.

Directions
South Street is one of Bridport's three main shopping streets and it leads from the junction at the Town Hall towards the sea and West Bay. The Electric Palace Cinema is located two minutes walk from the Town Hall, on the east side of the street (the left as you walk south) between the turnings for Folly Mill Lane and Church Street.
Additional Information
The Electric Palace website has a list of all the films and events that they have programmed. The listing has links that give more detail and you can print them to show your friends when planning a trip to the cinema.

What a wonderful little place tucked away. I had the Beetroot and Goats Cheese tart for lunch - divine - well worth a visit. Check out the mural in the auditorium made up of paintings of local visitors......
