The Bee Shack is a quirky little cafe serving Fair-trade teas & coffees, light lunches & gorgeous cakes. The welcome is always warm & friendly with lots of free tasting samples of Honeybuns cakes to try.
If you are planning a walk in the Dorset countryside, you might like to know about the Bee Shack. It is a tiny little cafe based at Naish Farm, the home of Honeybuns Bakery. Hidden at the top of a no through lane, you really do feel you've discovered a special secret place. The Bee Shack has been lovingly converted from an old chicken shed with the decor best described as home made chic!
Open just on the first Saturday of each month, the Bee Shack is refreshingly unsophisticated. Until 2000 is was used as a chicken house & the owners wanted to keep it honest & simple. There is an eclectic mix of old kitchen enamel ware, a comfy sofa and chairs of varying vintages. The numerous awards won by the Honeybuns team jostle for space on an old dresser and the walls are decorated with articles on cakes, local food and community news.
You can pop in for coffee or a cup of tea (supplied by Reeds coffee roasters in Sherborne) & treat your self to a polenta, lemon & ginger crunch or something equally as naughty. You are never rushed, in fact the staff encourage you to linger longer and properly chill out.
Views include Bulbarrow Hill and if the weather is bright the Honeybuns bakery's donkey, Joaney will be out nibbling the grass. For lunch, booking is advisable, as the place is so tiny. Food is all home made & gluten free and vegetarian. Dairy intolerances can also be catered for, but you will need to phone ahead. Children are very welcome. Dogs are very welcome but cannot come into the Cafe itself.
