Stay in a Gypsy Caravan situated in our two acre field with views to Compton, Melbury & Fontmel Down. Includes a delicious breakfast using local organic ingredients.
The Gypsy Caravan is technically a Showman's Wagon. These were built for the itinerant fairground workers and performers at around the turn of the century when steam engines became available to tow the equipment and their caravans. It was built in 1934 and has been painted with the Romany traditions of embellishment and decoration which it still retains in its original condition.
The Caravan has it's own private shower and loo approximately 30 metres away. The double bed is 6ft long and just under 4ft wide (cosy!) It has a kettle with tea & coffee provided and a mini fridge.
Delicious Aga cooked breakfast served in the main house to include eggs from our own hens, home made preserves, local organic sausage & bacon, apple juice from our orchard.

Directions
From Shaftesbury take the A350 signposted to Blandford, go through the village of Cann, Compton Abbas is then the next village.
The Old Forge is the first property on your left just before the Compton Abbas sign. Turn immediately left there, the house is then on your left. Please follow the signs for parking. We will then show you the Gypsy Caravan.
