We are a producer and retailer of rare breed free range meats and other food and drink
Rearing rare breeds of pig on this beautiful Dorset estate has been a passionate hobby of the Marquees of Salisbury for many years. His enthusiasm has now generated a whole new enterprise at Cranborne, centred on the production and sale of rare breed pork, beef and lamb.
In 2003, Cranborne was chosen by Rick Stein as one of his “Food Heroes” in his “Best for Meat” category. We have also won 3 golds for our bacon at the Great Taste Awards this year.
We have gone back to the traditional way of rearing pigs ‘free range’ in the Estate’s woods. We produce the finest old-fashioned pork from the best traditional breeds, particularly Middle Whites, Large Blacks, Berkshires or Tamworths, we also have several other breeds. The pigs are turned out to ‘free range’ in large enclosures in the woods or on down land, where they are allowed to mature slowly. We also rear White Park Cattle to produce well-flavoured beef, hung for a minimum of 4 weeks.

We retail and wholesale our meat, we are currently supplying several local retailers such as Littlemoors at Hampreston, Deli Hart in Wimborne and Holbrooks in Sturminster Newton. We supply several pubs and restaurants locally: The Coventry Arms at Corfe Mullen and Branksome Beech in Bournemouth.
