Broad Oak Orchard - Dorset Wildlife Trust Reserve
Dorset Wildlife Trust

Tel: 01305 264620
One of the few remaining traditional orchards near Sturminster Newton, given to the Dorset Wildlife Trust and managed by a group of local villagers.
The orchard (0.18ha) has common fruit tree varieties and some old rarities such as Autumn Pearmain and the scarce King George V. The unimproved grassland supports many wildflowers such as ox-eye daisy, devil’s-bit scabious and corky fruited dropwort, and also butterflies.
The best time to visit is after the winter months; an annual “Open Day” is held in early October.

Directions
Turn south off the A357 at Sturminster Newton, just east of the River Stour bridge/traffic lights at the Bull public house on to a minor road. Go through the village of Broad Oak (1 mile) and the orchard is on the left just before a sharp bend. Road-side parking is limited.
