A Dorset Wildlife Trust reserve, on the outskirts of Poole. this flower rich meadow is noted for its large population of green winged orchids.
This 2 ha site is managed traditionally as a hay meadow, cut each year in July and grazed until the following February; stock are then removed and the meadow is left to grow again for the next crop of hay. It supports many wildflower species including black knapweed, yellow bartsia and bird’s foot trefoil, but is noted for one of the largest populations of green winged orchids in the county.
The best time to visit the meadow for the wildflowers is during the month of May.



Directions
Travelling south on the A350, turn left at the traffic lights for Corfe Mullen on the Old Wareham Road. Travel for ½ mile, turn left down Waterloo Road for a further ½ mile and the reserve is on the right with parking and access opposite some houses.

Additional Information
There is a good walking surface; take care when stock is on the reserve. Access for disabled can be made by prior arrangement with Dorset Wildlife Trust. Keep dogs under close control and on leads where there is livestock.
