Sutton Holms - Dorset Wildlife Trust Reserve
Dorset Wildlife Trust
BH21 8NQ
This Dorset Wildlife Trust reserve has traditional pasture with a small pond, wet grassland, oak woodland and hedges.
The small, 0.8 ha, reserve lies on London Clay and contains an interesting mixture of habitats. Plants found in the wet areas include ragged robin, meadowsweet, and spotted & southern marsh orchid. The meadow has betony amongst the grasses and cow-wheat grows in the woodland; orange tip butterflies can be seen early in the year, followed by marbled whites.
The best time to visit is in early spring as the reserve wakes-up after winter.

Directions
Turn south off the A354 (Blandford to Salisbury road) on to the B3081. Follow the road until you reach the B3078 (Cranborne to Wimborne road) and then turn right; continue until you reach the B3081, turn left where it is signposted for the Heavy Horse Centre; the reserve is one mile along on the left, just before the right-hand bend, down a small, wooded drive. There is parking for two cars.
