The Cavalcade of Costume, Historical Costume Museum was the inspiration of the remarkable Mrs Betty Penny. She had travelled the country with her costumes for a period of 35 years and was awarded the M.B.E. in 1984 for her contribution to charity.
The Museum's unique collection dates from the 1730's right up to the 1970's, and provides a history of clothing and accessories througout those years charting the changes in fashion and manufacture of costume during that period. The museum provides many facilities and information on the history of the collection and many other items to be seen. Each room has a fascination of it's own. The visitor will always find something to delight the eye.
