St Mary the Virgin, Tarrant Crawford
Blandford Forum
Little remains of Tarrant Abbey, a rich and celebrated Cistercian nunnery, but at the end of the lane leading past it's site this simple, unspoilt church stands on a slope above the River Tarrant.
The chancel is 12th century with the rest of the building mostly 14th century. Many of the furnishings are from the 17th and 18th centuries: but most significant is th eimportant series of 14th centruy paintings on the south wall. A church of great charm and interest in a pleasant setting.
