St Nicholas' Church, Nether Compton
The church stands at the south end of the village which, rarely for Dorset has, some sense of formality. A small green opens north of the church; but the houses do not gather round it.
The chancel, nave and south porch were built in the 13th century. The church was much altered in the 15th century when the north chapel and west tower were added and the nave partly rebuilt. the church was restored in 1885 when the north chapel was extended east to form an organ chamber and vestry, an arch opened in the north wall of the chancel, the chanel arch rebuilt and the chancel refaced.
Most of the benches date from the 17th century, but one in the chancel is 15th century having blank tracery and a Fleur-de-lis poppy head.
