Watch, participate and create. An exhibition of work created from our educational programme by both adults and children participants. Also join in the hand on experience in the gallery.
Walford Mill Crafts is hosting an exhibition to promote its educational activities with individuals, schools and community groups, starting on 4th October.
A part of the gallery features work specially selected from items produced by participants of workshops and educational activities throughout 2008 at Walford Mill. The other part of the gallery is devoted to live educational activities, in which school groups will produce a mid 18th Century themed area.
One group working with well-known Paper Sculptor Peter Rush will produce a mid 18th Century style dress and elaborate white wig. This dress will be displayed in the gallery and form the basis for The Big Draw activities. During the exhibition the dress will expand as visitors tie on luggage tags donated by Bath Travel, featuring their exhibition-inspired drawings on them.
Another group working with portrait painter Hugh Dunford Wood who also produces his own unique hand-block printed wallpaper, will produce their own ‘Wimborne’ inspired wallpaper. The group will then produce portraits, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Wimborne, to hang on the newly wallpapered walls of the 18th Century room created in the gallery.
Come and get involved with the creation of the dress and also see the amazing creations by all participants.
